Experimental and Numerical-Driven Prediction of Automotive Shredder Residue Pyrolysis Pathways toward Gaseous Products

There has been a gradual increase in the field of parts recovery from cars that are withdrawn use. However, disposal automotive shredder residue (ASR) still remains significant problem. ASR is refuse derived fuel (RDF), which contains mainly plastics, fiber sponges, and rubbers different proportions, therefore thermal treatment selected waste samples applied. The presented research includes thermogravimetry (TG) analysis differential thermogravimetric (DTG) analysis, as well proximate an ultimate samples. obtained results were processed used input for modelling. numerical calculations focused on identification ASR’s average composition, raw pyrolysis process product, its dry pyrolytic gas combustible properties gases. TGA with three heating rate levels covered temperature range ambient to 800 °C. decomposition studied was stages confirmed peaks observed at temperatures 280, 470, 670 amount solid grew rates 27–32 wt%. calculation showed only 0.46 kg formed 1 ASR. yield increased rising temperature, and, same time, calorific value decreased 19.22 down 14.16 MJ/m3. This due C6+ hydrocarbons promotion CO formation. thermodynamic parameters combustion air mixture, such adiabatic flame laminar speed, higher than methane were, respectively, 2073 °C 1.02 m/s.
